Dental Technologies

Dentist and dental assistant reviewing patient x-rays from clientex:PracticeNameWe live in the greatest age of dentistry. Advancements and understanding are increasing at a staggering pace and staying up to date with these changes is critical to the care of our patients. Evidence continues to mount linking the state of the mouth to the overall condition of the body. Providing patients with knowledge and dental care that can change and improve their quality of life is our ultimate goal.

We constantly strive to give our patients the finest dental care possible, and we understand that our investment in advanced technology leads to better dental outcomes. We use a variety of dental technologies described below.

Digital X-rays

X-rays are a primary tool for early identification of dental problems. Detecting issues with x-rays before they become problematic can save you money in the long run. At Lauren Becker DDS, PC, we use digital x-rays, which have several advantages over traditional film based x-rays. Digital x-rays allow us to take x-rays with 1/5th the radiation that you would receive from traditional dental x-rays. The worry of exposure to excess radiation is eliminated. Large on-screen x-rays make patient communication more effective. The immediate observation of the images on the screen allows us to discuss your dental health quickly and accurately.

Digital Intraoral Scanners

The method for taking an impression of your teeth is different, in that instead of taking a putty mold of your mouth, we take a digital impression of it.

VELscope Oral Cancer Screening

The VELscope hand piece shines a safe blue light into the oral cavity. When viewed through the VELscope’s patented filters, healthy tissue fluoresces green. Suspicious tissue, such as oral abnormalities that may be or may lead to dysplasia and oral cancer, has a different fluorescence signature and generally appears as a dark, irregularly shaped patch. If a suspicious lesion is detected, questioning of the patient may reveal a logical explanation, such as a burn from hot coffee. If the lesion cannot be explained, we may ask for a re-evaluation of the lesion in 2 weeks or possibly a biopsy.

Entertainment

Touch screen technology screens are attached to the dental chair with entertainment options including Netflix, Hulu and premium cable along with wireless headphones are made available to enhance patient comfort.
